If you’re having a hard time finding just the right shorts for this summer’s hottest days, remember: shorts are generally just pants with shorter legs. You can transform pants into shorts pretty simply, for about ten bucks.

First, pick the pants. You can use pants that aren’t the right length or have a stain below the knee for maximum efficiency, or you can just pick something that fits right around the waist and thigh but isn’t available in shorts form.

Then, cut them off (regular scissors are fine) two inches or so below thelowest point you think you might want them “shortsified.” At the bottom of your knee should work.

With pins (safety or straight), pin them to the inseam length you like by folding the excess fabric under. We made the first cut and use pins so that it’s easy to play around and see what looks best.

Once you’ve got them pinned, take them to your tailor or alterationist, and ask him to hem them at that point. A plain hem should cost you about ten bucks. If you prefer a cuff - which is a trendy on shorts that are a bit less casual - that’ll cost a bit more, and you should make sure to have a couple extra inches of fabric. For a cuff, you’ll need a little more than double the length of the cuff (like 5” for a 2” cuff.)

Suddenly, as if by magic, your pants have become shorts.

We feel the need to point it out because we’re a part of this demographic, no matter how much anime/movie/television/comic book/videogame/etc., want to pretend we’re not.

Having something like that is more than just bad art and bad understanding of anatomy; it’s telling a generation of young girls that there is a standard of beauty that they have to adhere to, and if they don’t, they are ugly and unwanted and undeserving of affection. It’s not reading between the lines; this is the shit that is forced down our throats from the moment we’re old enough to understand our “role” in the world.

I don’t appreciate being told to sit down and stay quiet, which is essentially what you are suggesting. “It’s just a cartoon”, isn’t an excuse. This isn’t Spongebob where we’re laughing about fire being underwater, okay?

when we point out that “that is how breasts work,” we are pointing out as well that a certain fraction of the people who draw comics (and in this case animation) are men. men who have never had breasts and therefore are not intimate with how they are not waterballoons strapped to a woman’s chest and that they are actually a mound of muscle, glands and fat. therefore it is important for women and other individuals who have a better idea of (pardon me) boob dynamics to bring up this idea that breasts must be huge and perky and defiant of gravity.

wil was the psychology-philosophy double major who had aspirations of being a lawyer and he had a best friend, miya, who he was in love with but was too self-depracating to notice that miya liked him back. until mikhail, a smuggler, arrived on the scene and wil, miya and mikhail ended up in a very uncomfortable (mostly on wil’s part) polyamorous relationship.

he eventually did become a lawyer and instead of getting miya, miya got him.

Slower jazz arrangement of Wind, 1st season ED from Naruto. I love the original, but it does have some engrish/pronunciation issues, plus I just wanted an excuse to do a vocal mix. Changed portions of the time signature, too. Cubase, Sampletank, Gigastudio.

A LOT of people in my streams comment on this song, and this is posted for the anon who asked about it in my Inbox just now. It was an amazing find several years back (2005, I believe—I had this for a while), and it’s still an amazing listen now.
